Gregory Forbes

After earning PhD’s in marine biology and tropical biology, Greg spent his professional career as a marine biologist and a college professor.  While he continues to study and practice science, Dr. Forbes’ has always had an interest in the fine arts.

Dr. Forbes’ interest in art glass began in college where he began working with stained and leaded glass before his interests moved a decade later to kiln-formed glass.  

Most recently, Greg’s art glass interests involve working with kiln-formed glass infused with reactive metal inclusions such as copper, silver, brass and gold.  Greg loves the alchemy and unpredictable nature of the chemical interactions between the metals, the glass and the very high temperature environment of the kiln which yields different reactive colors and patterns with each opening of the kiln.
